As-Is Process Flow Chart Evaluation

Create a new Word doc to use for the elements of this assignment.

 Select a process from an organization you work for or are familiar with. You will use this process in your assessments for Competency 2 and 3 as well.

Create a flowchart of the as-is process using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Vizio, or Excel. Insert the flow chart in your Word doc with the header “As-Is Process Flow Chart Evaluation.”

Under the flow chart in your Word doc, write an evaluation of the efficacy of your process using process improvement techniques.

Process Improvement Flow Chart

Determine how the process can be improved based on the results of your evaluation.

Define metrics and measure the current process. Add the metrics and measures to your Word doc.

Use process improvement techniques to improve the process. Create a flow chart of the improved process using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Vizio, or Excel. Use your professional judgment to ascertain how the future process will perform according to your metrics. 

Insert your new flow chart on your Word doc under the header “Process Improvement Flow Chart.”

Write a 525-word executive summary on your Word doc under the header “Executive Summary.” Include the following in your summary:

  • A brief description of the process based on the flowchart of processes current state

  • A brief description of process improvements based on the process of the future state
  • How you anticipate the future process will perform based on metrics used to evaluate process current state
  • A description of your process improvement project to achieve the process future state

This assignment is part of the business plan you will create throughout the program. Use the company that you chose to work with in the second Competency Assessment of this course, which is the company you will use for your entire business plan.

Part 1 of this assessment is intended to help you learn how to apply forecasting and demand models as part of a business operations plan. In Part 2, you’ll demonstrate the ability to build a supply chain operations plan and diagram for a business by analyzing factors that affect sourcing, logistics, metrics, suppliers, and risk. Note that although you need to submit Part 1: Operations Forecasting as part of the competency assessment, it will not be graded. Completing Part 1 is meant to help build your knowledge in preparation to complete Part 2 and for use in your Integrative Business Capstone project in STRCB/581.

You will be able to submit this assessment after you have completed the Reflection assignments in Competency 3. There is a Competency 3 – Assessment Submission that appears in the course.

Save and upload each part of the assessment as a separate file and title the files so it’s clear to see what part of the assessment they serve. Include your name in your documents on the first page, upper left.

Although this part of the assessment is not graded, you still need to complete it and submit it. This activity is meant to help build your knowledge in preparation to complete Part 2 and for use in your Integrative Business Capstone project in STRCB/581.

Choose 3 quantitative elements from the company you selected in Competency 2, Part 1.

Develop forecasts by implementing the following approach:

  1. Collect data, including old demand forecast (subjective data) and the actual demand outcomes.
  2. Establish the forecasting method (from readings). Decide on the balance between subjective and objective data and look for trends and seasonality.
  3. Forecast future demand using a forecasting method.
  4. Make decisions based on step 3.
  5. Measure the forecast error where applicable. Look for biases and improve the process.

Write a 525- to 700-word paper evaluating and summarizing the findings from the supported data points above. Insert the charts and supporting data from Excel and other tools in your paper.
