I’m studying and need help with a Psychology question to help me learn.
Watch the clip and answer the questions below, be sure to use content covered in the chapter.
Dr. Philip Zimbardo is a Professor of Psychology at Stanford University and the author of The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil. He has also conducted several different types of experiences that you may all be familiar with. In this clip, Dr Zimbardo describes several examples of people who acted heroically despite risks to their own personal safety.
- Can you think of any personality explanations for why some people may be more likely to act heroically? What do you think are the situational influences on heroism?
- Is it easier to think of personality or situational explanations for heroic behavior?
- Do you think that someone who acts heroically in one situation would be more likely to act heroically in another situation than a person who does not? Why or why not?
